Flight Plan

There is nothing as exciting as setting at the end of the runway and the control tower says you are cleared for take off.

Your juices start to flow as you adjust yourself in the seat as you are pushing the throttle forward. Keeping one eye on the centerline and the other eye on the air speed indicator you reach the rotate speed and with a slight backpressure on the yoke you have lifted off the runway into the sky.

As your are gaining altitude you click the gear up switch, adjust the prop, flaps and trim tabs for your climb out. Finally you reach your cruise altitude and you readjust the power setting to 75% and all of the other necessary items to get the right step for maximum performance and a nice flight.

Now comes the boring part of flying especially if you are by yourself. You start thinking of your love for flying and everything you sacrificed to get your pilots license. The hours of ground school, the ten to twenty hours to solo and then forty to fifty hours later you finally earned your private certificate.

Then you came to the conclusion that this license was only the beginning to fulfill your dream of flying. Now you started working on your multi-engine and commercial ticket and finally you earned the crowning attainment, your instrument rating.

Your thoughts return to flight school and you are at 3000 feet altitude. The instructor pulls on the carb heat and the throttle back to an idle and he turns to you and says where are you going to plant this thing?

Do you remember the rush you got then? Frantically you start looking around for a cow pasture or a dirt road without power lines and asking yourself, which way is the wind blowing and where am I going to land? The instructor was training you to be able to save your own life and those that are with you in a future crisis.

The engine is humming nicely and you glance at the compass to make sure that you are on course. It is such a beautiful day to be flying and looking at the mountains that you are flying over you marvel at their beauty and how rugged they are. Then you start thinking about the flying mountainous terrain course you missed and think, I sure wish I could have taken that course too.

All of a sudden you hear a weird noise and hear a loud bang, the propeller quits turning and it becomes very quiet. All you hear is the wind whistling past the fuselage.

Now your instructor’s training streams through your mind including the question, where are you going to land this airplane? As you are franticly looking at the mountainous you don’t immediately see any place to set down. Losing altitude and looking all over the area you spot a large field where a few cattle are grazing. Pointing your plane toward the pasture you also remember that cows will normally graze with their tail to the wind.

As you circle around you are rehearsing in your mind all of your training on how to make a dead stick landing. And as you touch down and roll out you come to a stop just before you bump into a cow.

With your knees knocking you just sit there wiping your forehead and looking into the big brown eyes of the cow that is looking back at you. She looks like she could be thinking how did you get hear?

If this cow pasture had not been there the ending of this experience could have been very different.

The question is, if you had crashed into the mountains and died, where would you be now?

God's MANUAL FOR A TRUE HEADING

By taking ground school using your Bible as the manual you will find that you have been experiencing a case of vertigo most of your life. God’s Word can put you on a straight and level flight path, give the right heading and confidence that if you don’t come back from a flight, you will be face to face with God at His airport.

We need to learn to trust the Bible, as we would trust the instrument panel, while flying in sever IFR conditions. Being proficient and professional makes the difference of a safe flight for you and everyone that is with you. Your decision to let God into your life today can make the difference of your entire family spending forever with you in Heaven.

3. Attend Church where the Bible is preached and Christ is honored.
