The Passion of the Christ

Have you seen The Passion of the Christ ?

This dramatic presentation of Mel Gibson's The Passion of the Christ is the greatest love story ever told.

The Old Testament prophets had given more than 300 predictions of the love and sacrifice that was presented before you on screen. The awesome truth is that all of these prophecies were predicted and recorded in the Torah, a complete set of manuscripts written in Hebrew and Greek over four hundred years before the birth of Christ.

These prophecies being spoken and recorded and then being fulfilled hundreds of years later confirms the reality and authenticity of Jesus being the Son of God, the Promised Messiah, the Christ, and the Savior of all who will come to God through Him.

It is reported that His disciples, the 120 people that were in the upper room, and as many as five hundred people saw Jesus after the resurrection. Without the resurrection the crucifixion has no power or value.

The main theme taught in the book of Acts as the gospel is preached is the resurrection of the Son of God. The cleansing and forgiveness of our sins and receiving Eternal Life is hinged on the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God.

Now that all of this information has come to your attention, have you considered what it really means?

Is this for real?

Is Eternal Life available to me because of God's love and the sacrifice of His Son Jesus on the cross?

What am I going to do with these facts presented to me?

The answer to those questions and your actions in regard to them will make the difference of you receiving the gift of Eternal Life.

In the Gospel of John, chapter 3, verses 1-21; Jesus gave Nicodemus, a religious leader of the time, two pieces of information that would change his and our lives forever.

The first was when Jesus said to Nicodemus, "Verily, Verily, I say unto you, except a man be born-again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God." So, as with Nicodemus, we are presented with a new question to consider.

Like Nicodemus, we may ask Jesus, "How can a man be born-again?"

Before we answer that question, we want to present the second piece of information Jesus gave Nicodemus.

It is contained in verse sixteen of the same passage, in which Jesus said, "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

In the book of Romans, chapter 10, verses 8-10; the Apostle Paul ties these two points together so that we can apply them in our life and receive God's gift of love, Eternal Life.

First, we must believe that all of these things are true, that what the scriptures say about Jesus is true, that He was the once and for all sacrifice for sin. He shed His Blood at the crucifixion and was buried. Then, according to scripture, God raised Him back to life on the third day.

This was also preached in I Corinthians 15:1-8.

Then to this information we need to add the fact that each of us is a sinner and that Jesus did all of this for us in order for us to be forgiven of our sins and be put into right standing with God.

How do we do that?

The next step is to simply pray a prayer asking God to forgive you all of your sins and asking Jesus into your heart to be your personal Savior.

Here is a suggested prayer. Just talk to the Lord from your heart.

Dear Jesus. Thank you for loving me enough to die on that cross and take the penalty of my sin on yourself. I ask you to forgive me of all of my sin and come into my heart to be my Savior.
I ask you to help me to grow and to become the person you want me to be. Amen

By praying this prayer in all sincerity, you have been born-again because the Holy Spirit has entered your body and recreated your inner spirit. You have become a child of God.

Put this date in your calendar to remember forever that you have begun a new life in the family of God. You have made the transition from religion to relationship with the God who created the world and the Lord that loved you enough to die for you.
